Two days as a run-of-show, call time to hand-off

The 2D1N route is the shortest one that reaches both Padar and Komodo Island. Day one is the near side of the park, finishing at Kalong at sunset; day two is the far side, finishing with the return. The table is a sample, labelled as such, because the captain sets the order of stops, the anchorage and the timing on the day, by weather and park rules.

Where the boat anchors for the night is decided by the captain and the weather; the group sleeps aboard. Sunset at Kalong falls between 17:49 and 18:27 across the year, and the bats leave about fifteen minutes after the sun is down, so the boat is in position early.

Stops that only appear once there are two nights

Two days leave some of the park out, and it is better to know which stops before the brief is written. Taka Makassar, the sandbar that shows only at low tide, and Kanawa, the shallow reef where the 3D2N run ends, appear only from three days. So does the second day of snorkelling that a 3D2N route spreads across day two and day three.

What you lose in 2D1N is not the headline stops. Padar, Komodo Island, Pink Beach and Manta Point are all in the two-day route. What you lose is slack: day two carries four stops, and a late start or a strong current at Manta Point is absorbed by dropping a swim, not by adding time.

If the programme has a fixed hand-off hour on day two, say so in the first message. A producer can tell you, before you pay, whether the route needs the three-day page instead.

Overnight rates from ten guests to twenty-eight

One night aboard is priced per boat, and Zada Ulla's rate steps with the head count. At 20 guests the whole boat is IDR 95,000,000 · about USD 5,828 and each guest's share is IDR 4,750,000 · about USD 291, the lowest cost per head in the table. At 21 the next band starts and the share rises to IDR 5,710,000 · about USD 350.

Who takes which cabin for the single night aboard

For one night the allocation is simple, and it is the rooming list that takes the time. The bed set-up for each pair is confirmed with the rooming list, in writing, before you pay. Do not promise twin beds to your staff until that confirmation arrives.

Put the senior guest in the Master cabin, which on Zada Ulla is on the upper deck with a private balcony and a bathtub. Zada Ulla's 11 cabins at two guests each hold twenty-two, so a party above that fills the extra beds that only some cabins take. Zada Nara has 7 cabins, Zada Zen 6 and Zada Mega 5, each at two guests.

Producer's checklist for the night aboard. The rooming list, with each pair named, goes to us before the cut-off in the quote. Changes after that are made through your PIC to the producer, not on the jetty.

Fitting two days on a company calendar

A 2D1N charter takes two working days or one weekend, and it asks for an arrival the day before. Arrive in Labuan Bajo one day before sailing to avoid cancelled or delayed flights; a team landing at breakfast time on day one is a team that has not slept before a long day on the water.

The return time on the last day is confirmed in writing; book flights only after that confirmation. A late afternoon flight is safer than a lunchtime one, and an onward flight the same evening is a gamble.

Weekday dates are easier to block than weekend dates, especially when several boats are involved. If your calendar allows either, name both in the first message and let us tell you which boat is free on which.

FAQ

How much does a 2-day, 1-night Komodo tour cost?

Per boat, not per person: IDR 70,000,000 · about USD 4,294 on Zada Mega, IDR 80,000,000 · about USD 4,908 on Zada Nara and IDR 75,000,000 · about USD 4,601 on Zada Ulla for 1 to 14 guests, rising with each Ulla band. Guide, documentation and park fees are extra.

Is 2D1N enough to see Komodo, Padar and Pink Beach?

Yes. The 2D1N route reaches Padar, Komodo Island, Pink Beach and Manta Point on day two, after Kelor, Menjerite and Kalong on day one. It does not reach Taka Makassar or Kanawa, which start with the 3D2N route. Manta sightings are never guaranteed.

Does the price differ between weekday and weekend?

We publish one 2026 price list for each boat; weekday and weekend rates are confirmed per date on request. The only calendar-driven price we can state is the park fee for Indonesians: IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 at a weekend.

Can 28 guests sleep on one boat?

Zada Ulla takes 28 guests in 11 cabins. Most cabins hold two; the extra beds are in some cabins only, so a party of 28 needs a rooming list confirmed in writing before you pay.

What is excluded from the price?

The guide and photo and video documentation, park tickets, ranger fees, flights, the hotel before boarding, personal expenses and crew tips. Guide and documentation can be arranged on request and are quoted separately; the park fee is IDR 250,000 for foreign visitors.
