Private charter in Komodo: the whole boat for your team, priced by head count
Updated 28 October 2026
A private charter hires the whole boat and is priced per boat, not per person. 3D2N is IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215 on Zada Mega, IDR 105,000,000 · about USD 6,442 on Zada Nara and from IDR 95,000,000 · about USD 5,828 on Zada Ulla up to 28 guests. Guide, documentation and park fees are extra.
Whole-boat rates for four boats and five lengths
Every Zada boat is chartered whole, for one day, 2D1N, 3D2N, 4D3N or 5D4N, and you pay for the boat, not per head, as long as the group stays inside the boat's band. The tables take one boat at a time.
Zada Ulla steps with the head count in four bands: 1 to 14, 15 to 20, 21 to 25 and 26 to 28 guests. The other three boats have one band each: Zada Nara 1 to 14, Zada Zen 1 to 12 and Zada Mega 1 to 10. The one-day rate belongs to a sample route, which the 1-day itinerary page describes.
Read the rate against the head count, not against the length alone. A team of 14 pays IDR 95,000,000 · about USD 5,828 on Zada Ulla or IDR 105,000,000 · about USD 6,442 on Zada Nara for the same three days. A team of 10 pays IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215. The price lines for each boat follow, with the guide and documentation shown as extras.
Two patterns are worth knowing before the head count is final. Zada Zen and Zada Mega carry the same rate at every length from 2D1N: IDR 70,000,000 · about USD 4,294 for 2D1N on both. Zada Nara is lower than Zada Ulla's first band only at the one-day length; from 2D1N the order reverses, and the gap is widest at 4D3N and 5D4N.

Cost per head at 10, 14, 20 and 28
Cost per head is simply the boat rate divided by the people aboard. For 3D2N: Zada Mega at 10 guests is IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215 for the boat and IDR 8,500,000 · about USD 521 per person. Zada Zen at 12 is IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215 and IDR 7,080,000 · about USD 434 per person. Zada Nara at 14 is IDR 105,000,000 · about USD 6,442 and IDR 7,500,000 · about USD 460 per person.
Zada Ulla is where the share falls. At 14 guests it is IDR 6,790,000 · about USD 417 per person. At 20 it is IDR 5,500,000 · about USD 337, at 25 it is IDR 5,400,000 · about USD 331 and at 28 it is IDR 5,710,000 · about USD 350. Between 20 and 28 guests Zada Ulla has the lowest cost per head of any boat or pair in the fleet, and the lowest of all is at 25.
Ask for the line that matches your head count, not the nearest one. A head count that sits one name above a band edge, 21 guests on Zada Ulla for example, costs IDR 6,430,000 · about USD 394 per person, against IDR 5,500,000 · about USD 337 at 20. We quote both sides of an edge when the list is still moving.
A party of 4 pays the full boat: on Zada Ulla at 4 guests the share is IDR 23,750,000 · about USD 1,457. That is why small teams start with Zada Mega and Zada Zen, or with an open-trip seat.
In the rate, out of the rate
One list covers all four boats, with the differences marked by boat.
In the rate, every boat:
- the whole boat with its chef and crew
- transfers between the harbour and the boat
- meals on board: 4 on a 2D1N, 7 on a 3D2N and 10 on a 4D3N
- free-flow mineral water, coffee and tea
- snorkelling equipment and life jackets
Also in the rate on Zada Ulla and Zada Nara: a karaoke sound system, Smart TV, local Wi-Fi, a paddle board and a kayak. Zada Mega lists a karaoke area too; any item your programme needs on Zada Zen is confirmed in writing before you pay.
Out of the rate, every boat: flights to Labuan Bajo, a hotel and meals before and after the sailing, the park ticket and the ranger fee, personal expenses and crew tips. On a private charter the guide and photo and video documentation are not included; they are arranged on request and quoted separately. Park tickets and ranger fees are never in the fare.
Priced extras: on Zada Zen and Zada Mega, photo and video documentation at IDR 2,000,000 · about USD 123 per day and a local guide at IDR 750,000 · about USD 46 per day; on Zada Ulla and Zada Nara both are quoted separately. Boarding, check-out and the return time on the last day are confirmed in writing; book flights only after that confirmation.
One 2026 list, weekday or weekend
We publish one 2026 price list for each boat; weekday and weekend rates are confirmed per date on request.
The written quote names the boat, the date, the length, the head count and the rate on one line each, so a second approver sees at once what the date changed.
Weekdays are easier to block when several boats are involved, since every boat has to be free on the same date. Ask for two or three dates in the first message and we check them together.
One figure does follow the calendar, and it is not in the fare: park entry for an Indonesian guest is IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 on a weekend.
Guarantee: same dates on another boat, or a refund
If the booked boat cannot sail for a reason beyond our control, we arrange a replacement boat for the same dates, or refund you within 14 days, under the booking terms.
For a company this is the clause that counts, because the date is usually tied to a board calendar or a client visit. A replacement is the same dates on another boat, and the quote for it is written before you agree to it. A refund inside 14 days is the alternative.
Weather is a different question. If the weather changes the route, the captain decides the order of stops and the anchorage on the day, and the trip goes ahead on an alternative plan. That is procedure, and nothing in the rate changes with it.
Two habits protect a company date. Keep a second date in hand until the deposit is paid, and tell us early if the head count moves across a band edge. We confirm class and capacity in the replacement quote.
Three steps from first message to paid deposit
Step one: message us the head count and dates. Step two: we reply in writing with a quote per boat. Step three: you pay the deposit of 50 percent, and the balance is due 30 days before sailing.
Producer's checklist, each item with a cut-off date in the quote:
- Head count, with the range if it is not final.
- Rooming list: who shares, who needs a cabin alone.
- Dietary list, one line per guest.
- Flight manifest for the pickup.
- Branding wishes, if any.
- Budget per head.
Airport, hotel and harbour pickup in Labuan Bajo is included; the time and the meeting point are confirmed in writing. Above 12 guests a second vehicle or a coach is quoted as its own line.
- Answered during chat hoursSend dates, group size and route
- 50 percent of the totalDeposit confirms the date
- 30 days beforeBalance before sailing
Paying in two steps, and the refund ladder
The deposit is 50 percent of the quote, paid to confirm the date, and the balance is due 30 days before sailing. The invoice is issued by PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia to the company, and VAT of 11 percent is included in the fares. One organiser pays: the company or the EO is the single name on the invoice.
The refund scale and the date-change fee are set out in one table on the how-to-book page.
Ceilings per boat, the 2027 list and events
The ceilings are 28 guests on Zada Ulla, 14 on Zada Nara, 12 on Zada Zen and 10 on Zada Mega. A larger party adds a second boat. Each boat stays its own private charter, booked for the same dates when all are free and quoted per boat; sailing together, a shared anchorage and a joint programme are arranged on request, and the captains set the order and the anchorages.
Fares for 2027 are sent in writing on request.
Weddings, celebrations, stage, decoration, an MC, a band and branded banners are arranged on request and quoted separately; none is part of a fare.
For a toast at dinner, ask us what the karaoke sound system can handle and we confirm it in writing.
If your rooming list needs one berth more than the boat has, that is a second boat, and we tell you in the first reply rather than at the quote stage.
FAQ
How much does it cost to charter a boat in Komodo?
A private charter is priced per boat. For 3D2N it is IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215 on Zada Mega, IDR 85,000,000 · about USD 5,215 on Zada Zen, IDR 105,000,000 · about USD 6,442 on Zada Nara and from IDR 95,000,000 · about USD 5,828 on Zada Ulla. Guide, documentation and park fees are extra.
What is included in a private charter and what is not?
Included: the boat, chef and crew, harbour transfers, meals, water, coffee and tea, snorkelling gear and life jackets, plus the kit each boat lists. Not included: flights, hotel, park ticket, ranger fee, personal expenses, crew tips, and the guide and documentation.
What happens if the boat has a problem?
If the booked boat cannot sail for a reason beyond our control, we arrange a replacement boat for the same dates, or refund you within 14 days, under the booking terms. You see the replacement quote in writing before you agree to it.
How far ahead should a company book?
Earlier than feels necessary. A near date is tight, since another group may already hold the boat. Send two or three possible dates with the head count; a date is held only when we confirm it in writing, and a second boat on the same date has to be free as well.
How many guests fit on one boat?
Zada Ulla takes up to 28, Zada Nara 14, Zada Zen 12 and Zada Mega 10. Nobody sails above those numbers; a larger party adds a second boat on its own charter.
