Grandparents to toddlers: sizing the boat to the family
A family gathering is planned around its two ends: the eldest person who must be comfortable and the youngest who must be safe. Everything else, including the boat, follows. Count the whole family first, children included, and then read the head-count ladder: up to 10 guests is Zada Mega, up to 12 is Zada Zen, up to 14 is Zada Nara, and up to 28 is Zada Ulla in four bands.
Large families usually land between 15 and 28, which is Zada Ulla's range. The boat has 11 cabins, enough to give each household its own, and a dining table that seats the family together. Zada Nara, with 7 cabins and 14 berths, suits one branch of the family travelling together.
Whether a toddler counts toward the head count that sets the band is confirmed in writing. Tell us every age in the first message.
Family cabins on Zada Ulla, and who they take
Zada Ulla has two cabins called Family, each with a double bed and a bunk bed, an ocean view and a private bathroom. They take two to four guests on fixed beds, which makes them the cabins for a couple with two children or for grandparents with two grandchildren.
The three Superior cabins have a double bed and a single bed and a private bathroom, and are not ocean-view cabins; they take two to three guests and suit a parent with one child. The Master and Suite cabins on the upper deck each have a private balcony with a bathtub, and take extra beds: up to two in the Master and one in the Suite.
The cabin lists for Zada Nara, Zada Zen and Zada Mega print a double bed in every cabin, with an extra bed in some, so a family of four plans on two cabins. The bed set-up for each pair is confirmed with the rooming list, in writing, before you pay.

Children, grandparents and the Padar walk
The walks are the part of the trip that sets the family's pace. The Padar climb to the main viewpoint takes about half an hour to three-quarters of an hour on a path that is loose and steep in places, and the Komodo Island walk is on trails with a ranger, in closed shoes. Both are moderate. A guest who prefers not to climb stays on the boat, and the family does not need to apologise for it.
Life jackets are on board for every guest, and snorkelling is optional at every stop. Children under 3 travel free under the booking policy; from age 3 the full fare applies. For a private charter, which is priced per boat, ask us how a young child affects the band.
We make no medical claims. Tell us about mobility, allergies and medication on the dietary and medical line of the producer's checklist, and we confirm in writing what the route and the boat can accommodate.

One organiser pays: deposits across households
A family gathering has several households and one invoice. The organiser pays: PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia issues the invoice in one name, with a 50 percent deposit to confirm and the balance 30 days before sailing. We do not promise to split the payment across households, so decide inside the family who collects what, and when.
Collect from the households a week before each payment date, not on it. A transfer from abroad can take a few days, and the balance is the one payment that cannot slip.
If the family cancels, the scale is the same as for any booking: the refund is 50 percent at 60 days or more and 25 percent between 30 and 59 days. Write the scale into the family chat before the first payment, so nobody is surprised by it.

Is Komodo suitable for elderly relatives and young children?
With care, yes. The walks on Padar and Komodo Island are moderate and a guest may stay on the boat; life jackets are on board for everyone. We make no medical claims, so tell us about mobility and health in the checklist and we confirm in writing.

How do cabins get assigned in a big family?
By household, from the rooming list you send us. Zada Ulla's two Family cabins take two to four on fixed beds, the Superior cabins two to three, and the Master and Suite take extra beds. Cabin assignment is confirmed in writing.
Are life jackets available for children?
Life jackets are on board for every guest, and snorkelling is optional. Tell us the children's ages and sizes in the first message, and we confirm in writing that the right sizes are aboard.
What does a weekend charter cost compared with weekdays?
We publish one 2026 price list for each boat; weekday and weekend rates are confirmed per date on request. For Indonesian visitors the park fee is IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 at a weekend.
Can we bring our own cook or cake?
The boat has its own chef and crew, and meals on board are in the fare. A cake or a special dinner is arranged on request and quoted separately; tell us in advance what the family wants to bring aboard, and we confirm in writing.
