One day on the water: a Komodo day charter for a company group

This page shows a sample day, set by the captain on the day: stops from the near side of the park that the longer routes print, such as the Kelor hill walk and the Menjerite snorkel stop, with lunch on board and a return before sunset. The stops, their order and the timing are confirmed in writing with the quote, by weather and park rules.

These are slots, not clock times: sample, set by the captain on the day. Your PIC is the one person on your side who answers the producer and counts heads at each landing; a manifest with names and diets reaches us before the cut-off we write into your quote.

One day holds a walk, a swim, a meal and the way home. It does not hold a night aboard or a breakfast on deck, and Kalong's flying foxes leave their roost about fifteen minutes after sunset, after a day charter is back in Labuan Bajo.

Padar, Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Manta Point sit further into the park and are the core of the overnight routes. Any change to the sample day is confirmed in writing with the quote.

If the brief says to show the team the park, book two days or more. If the brief says to get everyone off their phones for a day and eat at one table, one day does it.

A day charter is priced per boat, so the cost per head is the whole-boat rate divided by the people who come. Zada Mega at 10 guests costs IDR 5,850,000 · about USD 359 per person; Zada Ulla at 28 guests costs IDR 2,860,000 · about USD 175 per person on a whole-boat rate of IDR 80,000,000 · about USD 4,908.

Zada Ulla steps up at each band edge: the rate for 1 to 14 guests ends at the 15th guest, where the next band starts. Four briefs fit a single day. A client day, where the guests of a visiting delegation join your team on the water. A visiting executive who has one free day between meetings in Labuan Bajo. A team-building day, which the team-building page works through for 28 people. And a group already staying ashore for a conference, which needs a break that does not move the hotel.

The stops above are a sample route that the captain can follow or change. It is quoted for a date when a boat is free.

Planning tip. Send two dates, not one. A boat that is free on a Tuesday may be booked on the Friday you first asked for, and a second date saves a round of messages.

Pickup in Labuan Bajo is from the airport, a hotel or the harbour; the time and the meeting point are confirmed in writing. A Toyota HiAce seats up to 12, and a larger coach is available on request. The boat is back in Labuan Bajo before sunset, and the exact time is confirmed in writing, so book no evening commitment until you have it.

The park entry fee is IDR 250,000 for foreign visitors, IDR 50,000 for Indonesians on a weekday and IDR 75,000 at a weekend. It is never in a fare, and neither is a ranger fee where a walk needs one; both are paid separately.

On a private charter the guide and photo and video documentation are not included; they are arranged on request and quoted separately. Park tickets and ranger fees are never in the fare.
